Cesari Jèma is for Hedonists Only!

Hand-picked in late October from a small vineyard in the town of San Pietro, these grapes are left to dry in crates for 20 days and then fermented on the skins in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation then followed in small French barriques where the wine spent 18 monthsè developing a medium toastiness before being transferred to large Slavonian oak casks for another six months. After bottling, it was cellared for a year before being released. Bouquet of ripening red berries, mochacino, currants and spice lays the way for a flavourful, full-bodied palate of toasty red fruit, cocoa, cola and coffee brought into play by 24 months total ageing in small French barriques and Slavonian casks. The overarching note of the finish is a lingering, almost languid, elegance. The taste is full, textured and provocative. Wine lovers of big, rich Reds, this is a new favorite for you. Ripe red fruit aromas, particularly cherry and currants , fill the nose. Mild toasted undertones and hints of cocoa, cola and coffee follow. The taste is supple, full and balanced with an elegant, persistent finish.

Decant at least 2 hours before serving alongside risottos and aged cheeses.

An old vine California red that is new to our shelves.

Marietta Cellars Old Vine Reds have been around for over 30 years. Originally released in October of 2011, this zinfandel blend is beautifully balanced and deep ruby-purple in color.

The taste is bright and rich, with red and dark berries balancedwith a smoky, juicy earthiness and hints of spice. There is a lot of that spicy bramble fruit flavor from Zinfandel, backed up with some structure from Syrah. This is not a big wine, but very complete. Soft and easy drinking. Nicely balanced. Not too oakey, but it does exhibit an nice aged roundness that typifies some use of oak. Red fruit, and maybe even some red licorice on the finish.

All this for just $14.99. Come pick up a bottle to go with dinner tonight!
