Longmorn 16 Year Old Speyside Single Malt On Shelves Now!

The long-awaited Longmorn 16 year old whiskey is now available at Fine Spirits. This is the newest expression from what is considered to be the 'hidden jewel' of Speyside.

The Whisky Advocate raves:

"The new Longmorn shows a mouth-coating maltiness -- Longmorn’s signature characteristic. Along with this, there’s ripe barley, honeyed fruit (peach, with subtle sultana and pineapple), gently complex nuts (almonds, brazil nuts), and a hint of chocolate-covered coconut. A lush, fruity-sweet dram that lingers long on the palate."

You know you want some. And for just $94.99, you can take home a bottle of this exquisite golden nectar for yourself.

Glenmorangie Artein is here!

Wine Lover? Whisky Lover? Meet Glenmorangie Artein! Artein is Gaelic for stone and refers to the iconic signet of Glenmorangie and the stony soil of Tuscany.  It's a 92° single malt composed of 2 parts 15 year old to one part 21 year old whiskies which are matured in used wine casks from a renowned Super Tuscan producer (rumored to be Sassicaia.)

Glenmorangie Artein has the distintive citrus and vanilla notes that one expects from Glenmorangie.  The wine casks adds another dimension. The mouthfeel is positively sensuous.  Layers of cassis, red berries, and mint are followed by cherry and chocolate in this tremendous thrid bottling of Glenmorangie's Private Edition series.

Artein is only $79.99 a bottle and is available now!

Limited Supply of 2007 Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon arrives!

 winemaker's notes:

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve carries the full classic aromas of crème de cassis, licorice, and cedarwood with layers of spice, camphor and roasted herbs. On the palate, the wine reflects the very expressive terroir of the To Kalon Vineyard with ripe blue and black fruits—mineral-laced dark berries and powerful, integrated tannins for which this vineyard is known. The lush aromatics and well developed flavors are wrapped in firm, velvety tannins, giving the wine an exceedingly long, aristocratic finish.

Wine Spectator gives it 95 points, and Parker gives it 95+ (his review below)

"The full-bodied, powerful, pure 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is another outstanding effort revealing notes of spring flowers, toasty oak, creme de cassis, licorice, and graphite. One would have to go back to the 1990, 1991, 2001, or 2002 to find a Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve this impressive. The 2007 should evolve for 20-25 years.

While no age statement is given, rich peaty single malts are combined with whiskies matured in deeply charred oak barrels, which produce a whisky worthy of the name Double Black. This is a limited production run and supply is expected to last just until the holiday season.
