Auchentoshan Selections

A more recent release from the Auchentoshan distillery, replacing the previous staple 10 year old, this 12 year old bottling exhibits the new, slightly Imperial aesthetics Auchentoshan have rebranded themselves with.

Nose: Cereals, exotic fruits.

Palate: Tannins, a little sweet barley, vanilla.

Finish: Dry and very long, a little sweetness from the barley.

A Lowland single malt matured consecutively in 3 different casks, namely: ex-bourbon, Oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. A distinctive triple distilled whisky from Auchentoshan.

Nose: Cooked fruit, sherry, toffee, a rum-like quality and notes of Bas Armagnac distilled circa 1940.

Palate: Rich. Liqueur cherries in dark chocolate, more sherried fruit, ripe dark forest fruits, like a Black Forest Gateaux.

Finish: Superb, led by thick dark treacle and toffee notes and chewy wooded notes, balanced with a green fruit edge.

Veuve Clicquot Cave Privée collection... Finally Available!

Born in the secrecy of their Crayères, Veuve Clicquot Cave Privée is the fruit of pure audacity, intuition and passion as well as the tenacity of House winemakers. For more than 30 years, guided by a phenomenal desire to reveal these wines to the entire world, they have produced and developed vintage wines, making sure to respect and enhance the individual character of each one.  Each vintage of the Veuve Clicquot Cave Privée collection is subjected to a particular disgorging and dosing process that takes into account the year of its production and the size of its bottle. Each bottle is individually numbered. An entirely novel and unique experience.

From Wine Spectator's upcoming November 2012 issue:

Veuve Clicquot Champagne Cave Privée 1990 Brut

Rich flavors and aromas of bread pudding and molasses mix with hints of baked peach, biscuit, ground ginger, fleur de sel and candied orange zest. Elegant, this shows lovely balance, a subtle bead and a delicate yet persistent freshness. Disgorged October 2008. Drink now through 2020. - 94 points

Veuve Cliquot Champagne cave Privée 1989 Brut Rosé

From the Winemaker's Notes: The colour is a delicate pink. The bead is persistent and fine. The initial nose is very pleasant, in a tertiary register on roasted notes, reminiscent of mocha and cocoa. The full bouquet comes to light on pastries. These notes develop into more complex aromas, with a mineral taste typical of red wines from Champagne. The bouquet is very mild, which is due to the fine maturity of the vintage, and preserves all its finesse. On the palate, there is an explosion of wild fruits (strawberries), emphasising the impression of structure and freshness, whereas the aromas of citrus fruit and candied figs bring out the silky acidity of the wine. The overall impression is one of generosity, with a very mild finish on dried fruits. With its roundness and its delicate vinosity, the 1989 Rosé Reserve can be served with food that is delicate rather than powerful, based on white meat (chicken in creamy chanterelles) or pink meat (veal or lamb). However, with its considerable ageing potential, the 1989 Vintage Rose will continue to age well for more than 15 years.
From Wine Spectator (November 30, 2012): Rich and creamy, this is aging gracefully. The finely tuned acidity and lightly beaded texture provide an elegant frame for the layers of coffee liqueur, toasted almond, cherry bonbon, iodine and orange peel flavors. The long finish is tinged subtly with smoky mineral. Disgorged October 2008. Drink now through 2022. 2,068 cases made. 95 points.

Both of these fabulous offerings come boxed for an elegant gift.

Midleton Single Pot Still Barry Crockett

Midelton is named for the distillery of the same name, and where many other well-know Irish blends are produced (including Jameson, Powers, Paddy, and Tullamore Dew). The distillery’s ultra-premium blend offering used to be The Midelton Very Rare.

Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy was first released in 2011(only available in limited quantities overseas) and is a "single pot still" whiskey named for their Master Distiller Barry Crockett. It contains a blend of ex-bourbon barrel aging and new oak aging. The single pot still style was a tradition method of distillation popular in the early 1900s and is a reference to the four different pot stills located on site, each producing a slightly different taste. Traditionally, they are blended but here the whiskey is made from a single still obtaining a very particular flavor profile.

Like the man himself, Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy is altogether more considered and elegant, mixing whiskeys up to 25 years old for a complex and less bruising experience than the Powers. Instead, lemon and lime zest, kumquat, and blood orange entwine themselves around vanilla, nutmeg, and soft, drying tannins. No big knockout punches, but it goes the distance and wins unanimously and easily on points. Just now available in the U.S.A!

Karlsson's Gold Vodka

Karlsson’s Vodka is handcrafted with different varieties of Virgin New Potatoes, all grown in Cape Bjäre, Sweden. Surrounded on three sides by the North Sea, the sandy but fertile soil is home to the most exquisite heirloom potatoes, known locally as “Farmer’s Gold.”

Distilled once and unfiltered to preserve the rich taste of the delicate, young potatoes, the vodka’s unique character is the result of the quality and quantity of the ingredients from which it is made. Approximately seventeen pounds of Virgin New Potatoes are needed to make just one bottle of Karlsson’s Vodka. Developed by Master Blender Börje Karlsson, Karlsson’s Vodka is a beautifully balanced and smooth spirit, possessing some unique qualities of character and natural taste.

Karlsson’s Vodka honors the heritage of vodka by going back to an artisanal, handcrafted aesthetic that preserves as much of the inherent flavor as possible. Karlsson’s invites you to rediscover vodka and elevate your drink experience.

Karlsson’s Gold Vodka can be enjoyed in a great number of ways. We recommend first trying it neat or on-the-rocks. Master Blender Börje Karlsson, a purist, created this vodka to be enjoyed on its own, as you might appreciate a fine brandy or whiskey. It allows you to fully experience the remarkable complexities and smooth creaminess of this unique spirit.

You can also take Karlsson’s a step further. Add a few twists of fresh cracked black pepper for a Black Gold. Stir Karlsson’s into a martini (with a lemon twist or olives), or a Gibson (with cocktail onions) for a more flavorful version of a classic. Incorporate it into your favorite Bloody Mary recipe for a richer and longer finish. Turn a Moscow Mule into a Swedish Mule for a more satisfying mouth feel. Or develop a signature cocktail of your own.

We simply encourage you to elevate your drink experience with Karlsson’s Gold Vodka, $27.99. Truly one of the most unique things we've seen in vodka in a long time.
