Have No Fear, For We Have Beer!

For all of you hopheads out there, don't despair- we love our beer here at Fine Spirits just as much as we love everything else! We've just gotten in some stellar new brews, including some really epic elixirs that are sure to knock your socks off. Don't believe us? Well, then, here are just a few of our new arrivals, listed in no particular order:

Green Flash Palate Smasher: Pours slightly hazy golden orange amber with a medium bubbly white head that left sticky lacing. Aroma of fresh citrusy and floral American hops and a touch of caramel malt sweetness. Flavor of aggressive piney hops, grapefruit and enough caramel malt to keep the hops just kind of in line. Certainly aggressively bitter. The flavor is intensely bitters, citrus (tangerines again), dried apricot and pine essence, with a dry sticky finish and just enough heft to coat your mouth and leave you eager for another sip. Definitely a beer made for the hopheads! 149 IBUs!

Ballast Point Sculpin IPA: Pours a deep golden orange with a finger of foam. Moderate carbonation stems from the center, good retention on the foam. Lacing is good, great looking beer. Smells of hops of course, some lemon and orange zest. Some floral pine melds with a touch of alcohol and a modest malt. Solid hoppy profile, balanced evenly with the malt. This is the #3 American IPA!

The Bruery Saison Rue: Belgian Style Ale Brewed With Rye and Brettanomyces. This rustic, deep golden California farmhouse ale is brewed just a few times a year to celebrate the change of the season. The Belgian yeast gives off banana and clove scents. The brett gives a bit of a funk. A bit of a pale bready smell as well as a hint of citrus. The taste has a slight brett funk, but not too much. Actually incredibly refreshing and smooth on the palate. A touch of banana and clove as well as lemon rind. Strong carbonation, medium body.

Those are just a few tasting notes on some of the more notable beers we've received lately. We also have Stone's Ruination IPA and standard IPA, Avery's Maharaja Imperial IPA, Brewery Ommegang's Abbey Ale, Brooklyn's Brown Ale, and lots of other amazing craft brews in stock and chilled for your enjoyment. Come in to pick up something new and exciting!

Duvel for the Holidays

Duvel is a unique blond beer, full of contrasts and surprising discoveries. Its golden-colored appearance, delicate sparkle and refined, silky taste with complex aromas hides an 8.5% alcohol content. Lush aromas include citrus, apple, hops and yeast. Flavors of pale malt appear throughout, with strong yeast, hops and alcohol notes. This Belgian strong golden Ale is a well-hopped beer, fruity and exceptionally aromatic. It has re-fermented in the bottle. Initially this beer was first called “Victory Ale” to commemorate the allied victory in the First World War.

This golden brew scored a whopping 96 points with Beer Advocate.  We have a limited number of these gift packs which include four 330ml bottles and beer goblet shaped perfectly to appreciate the aromas and flavors of any Belgian Ale.  Only $16.99 ea.

Dogfish Head Bites Back

Fear not, beer lovers! We wouldn't neglect you, and in fact we have some great dark beers on offer from Dogfish Head.

Palo Santo ($14.99/4 pack)

An unfiltered, unfettered, unprecedented brown ale aged in handmade wooden brewing vessels. The caramel and vanilla complexity unique to this beer comes from the exotic Paraguayan Palo Santo wood from which these tanks were crafted. This highly roasty and malty brown ale clocks in at 12% abv. At 10,000 gallons, our Palo tank is the largest wooden brewing vessel built in America since before Prohibition!

We also have the limited availability 'Occasional Rarity' Bitches Brew ($11.99)- a bold, dark beer that's a fusion of three threads of imperial stout and one thread of honey beer with gesho root. This 750 mL bottle contains an Imperial Stout that pours black with a tight tan head. The aroma that beer is dark roasted malt, dark coffee, and maybe a bit of cola with no real hop aroma. The first taste of this medium body stout reveals dark fruit, maybe plums, followed by bitter coffee, and then slight alcohol. This beer is very complex and hugely popular!
