The Peat Project

This multi-vintage Port Charlotte cuvee has been created by master distiller Jim McEwan to showcase the supreme elegance of this heavily-peated Port Charlotte spirit. While peated to a very serious 40PPM, Port Charlotte shares the wonderful poise and sophistication of its sister Bruichladdich spirit, while delivering its peat with none of the medicinal flavors that so often dominate coastal peated spirit.

The Power of Peat with elegance, complexity and the floral topnotes for which our Bruichladdich stills are famous.

The whisky is manually distilled from 100% Scottish barley, using the original19th century copper equipment and pre-industrial techniques. Matured beside the Atlantic, the marine-influenced whisky is naturally bottled in Islay's only bottling hall -— uniquely from Islay spring water from Gneiss (the oldest rocks in the whisky world) without the industrial processes of chill-filtration or artificial coloring.

Tasting Notes

A peat smokiness with vanilla sweetness, followed by spicy black pepper & lemon spice on the nose.
Brilliant creaminess, the layer upon layer of texture imparts an evenness of flavor across the palate. The finish is an extraordinary mix of sweet vanilla and peat smoke, with green fruit syrup. It lingers long and mellow, giving total satisfaction.

There is only a tiny allocation of Port Charlotte Scotches imported into the state of Florida.  This is sure to run out quickly at $59.99!

No Tricks This Time...Loki Has Arrived!

We're happy to announce that Loki is finally here! No, not this Loki:

We're talking about the second offering from Highland Park's Valhalla Collection. This one:

Highland Park Loki, a 15 year old limited edition single malt bottled at 48.7% abv, comes housed in the same unique and award winning wooden frame as Thor, echoing the fearsome contours of a traditional Viking long ship.

Loki is the second in The Valhalla Collection of four unique whiskies from Highland Park, taking inspiration from the legendary Nordic gods of old and continues the ground-breaking achievement of creating Thor – a 16 year old malt actually designed around the personality traits of an individual. The Orkney whisky maker has now created a unique flavour profile for its follow up. While unquestionably Highland Park, this time it mirrors the unpredictable, shape-shifting LOKI character and as with the trickster god of fire himself, all is not as it seems.

There are classic traces of sweetness and spice, but it has been matured in both traditional Spanish sherry casks and also some heavily peated casks, giving it a smoky punch, while retaining a light colour. The finish is intriguing and complex. It is a whisky constantly changing, chameleon-like, from appearance to finish and the few lucky and expert palates who have savoured it describe it as “enigmatic” and “truly another whisky of the Gods.”

Nose:
A spirited lift of dried bitter orange which quickly turns into lemon peels. Cardamom notes trick then tease the nose, before an enticing hit of gingerbread develops. With water, liquorice and aromatic smoke are both unleashed.
Palate:
The true shape-shifting ability of Loki springs to life on the palate: its waxy texture is amplified by an intense smoke that doesn't appear on the nose, shattering the light citrusy illusion of the aroma. All is not what it seems. The smoke fades as liquorice and rich spiced apple flavours come out to play. Lemon and grapefruit are consistent throughout this elusive, yet intriguing character. With a touch of water, lingering notes of melted dark chocolate over spent embers leave a soft smoky impression.
Finish:
As Loki departs, he leaves behind toasted cloves, hickory smoke and soft vanilla. It is constantly changing, from appearance to finish. Loki is an enigma and truly another whisky of the gods.

This is an extremely limited release of only 21,000 bottles worldwide. We're the first store in South Florida to get it in, and at $249.99, this trickster will be gone in a flash.

High West Distillery

High West Distillery in Park City Utah is the first legally licensed distillery in the state of Utah since the end of Prohibition. They make their spirits in a 250 gallon copper pot still, giving each unique character. At Malt Advocate's 17th Annual Whisky Awards, High West took home 'Pioneer of the Year' and the accolades just keep coming!

Campfire: This is the world’s only, and possibly first, blend of Scotch, bourbon and rye whiskeys. A very unusual, distinctive, yet delicious whiskey. The main flavor is sweet honey from a ripe bourbon. The enhancing flavor is floral fruity spice from a mature rye whiskey. The accent is the smoke from a peated scotch whisky. The proportions? Top secret. So...as the sun sinks low and the cold settles in, grab a bottle of Campfire and gather round a blazing fire to warm up, wind down your day, share stories, and deepen friendships. One taste of this sweet, spicy and, yes...smoky whiskey, you’ll know how it got its name. We like to enjoy Campfire with s’mores…or good-looking strangers.

$56.99 for 750mL.

Rendezvous Rye: Rendezvous Rye is a blend of two exotic straight rye whiskies - one old, and one young. It marries the rich aromatic qualities of a 16-year-old rye with the bold spicy properties of 6-year-old rye to create a full flavored, very complex whiskey. The 6-year-old boasts an uncommonly high 95% rye mash bill. Almost every other straight rye whiskey you can buy today is barely legal, with 51-53% rye in the mash bill. Not Rendezvous Rye. It honors the way rye whiskey used to be made, with a high rye content and full, uncompromised flavor. With Rendezvous Rye, you get a taste of authentic rye whiskey.

Ryes have been skyrocketing in poularity this year, and this one is up there with some of the best we've tried! $57.99 for 750mL.

Silver Collection OMG Pure Rye: High West is proud to help bring back a true American product - Rye Whiskey. OMG Pure Rye is an un-aged whiskey made in the style of the rye whiskey from 1800’s Western Pennsylvania. With a traditional 80% rye and 20% malted rye mash bill, OMG Pure Rye is distilled at a very low proof in a pot still. We think OMG Pure Rye tastes like Christmas fruitcake with deep plum, yeasty grain, Christmas spices and dried fruit. Warning: OMG is not for everyone. We designed OMG Pure Rye to be put in a barrel or consumed neat. You can’t just mix this like you do vodka! But if you like big complex chewy libations, it’s for you.

$38.99 for 750mL.

Silver Collection Western Oat: An un-aged oat whiskey (akin to a blanco tequila) with a mash bill containing 85% oats and 15% barley malt. A very unique and incredibly smooth whiskey. Tequila and rum both have their blanco and anejo, why can't whiskey? All spirits are born clear and turn brown after aging in a barrel. High West SILVER spent all of 5 minutes in a barrel to minimize the barrel's influence on the taste of the native spirit. They call it SILVER because they distill it in old town Park City, one of the west's richest silver mining towns. High West SILVER is a lot smoother and more elegant than other "white" whiskeys...often called moonshine, because they use the best ingredients and exact science to distill the elegance from the grain and separate those sometimes murky flavors found in some white whiskies.

$38.99 for 750mL.

Corsair Artisan Spirits

We are happy to announce that we have finally gotten in the long-awaited micro-batch spirits from Corsair. Corsair’s spirits have been praised in publications like Food and Wine, Saveur, Imbibe, Whisky Magazine, Whisky Advocate, the Atlantic, Time Out New York, and Maxim.com. Corsair’s innovative and adventurous spirits have won 41 medals at international spirits competitions.

So which of these amazing spirits did we fall head over heels for and just had to bring in for you?

Corsair Genever: Genever is the ancestor of more well known styles of gin, such as London Dry. Complex grain flavors really set genever apart from its more neutral cousins. This black sheep of a spirit is pot distilled from malted barley to preserve the grain's malty notes. Juniper, ginger, sweet orange peel, and a rich apothecary of botanicals are then added for an indulgent, intense spirit. Rare and exotic spices like orris root, licorice, and cardamom round out this versatile delicacy. If you're new to genever, try it in a classic Negroni, but we think this truly rare craft spirit is just heavenly on the rocks.

$39.99 for 750mL.

Corsair Spiced Rum: Produced in very small batches, Corsair Spiced Rum is handcrafted from sustainably harvested citrus peels, whole Madagascar vanilla beans, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, anise and allspice, as well as a variety of other spices and botanicals. The resulting spirit is smooth and full-flavored with pronounced notes of baking spice backed by layers of orange, lemon and vanilla. This spiced rum is unique in that it isn't overly sweet like some varieties can be. Instead, it is rich and complex, promising to be a classic in cocktails like Rum and Coke and the tiki punches so popular this year.

$32.99 for 750mL.

Corsair Triple Smoke: Corsair "Triple Smoke" is created by smoking malted barley in three different ways - one smoked with cherry wood, the other smoked with peat, and the third smoked with beechwood. Pot distilled and then barreled in new charred oak, "Triple Smoke" has the sweetness and barrel notes of an American whiskey and the rich smoke of a single malt. Aromas of toasted date bread, smoked jerky, roasted nuts and chocolate lead to nuanced flavors of fruit, toffee and peat. The finish is long and persistent with notes of almond brittle, smoke and peppery spices. This one really impressed us, and we're not the only ones- this amazing spirit got 93 points (exceptional from the Beverage Tasting Institute, Artisan Whiskey of the Year, 2013, from Whisky Advocate, gold medals at the 2010 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and 2010 International Review of Spirits Awards, and another gold medal in 2011 at the MicroLiquor Spirits Awards. All that, and only $46.99 for 750mL.

Corsair may be a small distillery, but they're really putting some big spirits into the market. This is definitely a company to watch, and we just can't wait to see what they will put out next!
